Newtown Architecture has a few proposed developments in front of the city of Kelowna council for approval. One of which is a multi-family condo building comprised of four lots along Pridham Avenue, in the Capri-Landmark area of Kelowna.
Newtown Architecture is a development company based in Kelowna. They are currently building a four-plex on Bernard Ave in the Bankhead area. They were also approved for a townhome complex in Rutland in 2019, and completed the Brookside Villas, a townhome complex in West Kelowna. Newtown has multiple projects in various stages of approval, from a condo tower in downtown Kelowna called Aura to another tower called 420 Cedar in the Pandosy Village.
Newtown Architecture Development Details
For the Pridham Ave Development, these are the details released to the public so far:
- 85 condo units (5 three bedrooms, 32 two bedrooms, 45 one bedrooms, and 3 studios)
- Two level secured parkade
- rear amenity area for residents (green space and BBQ area)
This development is in a key area of focus for the city of Kelowna. The city started to develop a plan for the Capri-Landmark Urban Centre in 2017 and produced a 72 page report about it in 2019. The plan lays out a new vision for the area, which currently is comprised of single homes, to transform it into a medium density hub of activity. The Landmark District is close to downtown and is home to the Landmark office towers (soon to be 7 towers with the addition of Landmark 7 – 23 stories of office spaces). The area is also accessible to transportation systems for students heading to UBCO or Okanagan College. The Landmark District is going to be the hotspot for Kelowna development in the very near future as the lots become consolidated and other developers move in.
