A new rental building has been proposed for 1605 Gordon Drive, at the corner of Leon Ave and Gordon Drive. Currently, there is a daycare centre, which will still exist in the rental building that is proposed.
The developer for the project is PC Urban, a large developer with projects primarily in the Lower Mainland and other parts of British Columbia, but also Calgary and Regina. This is not their first project in Kelowna. PC Urban developed and currently operates 1625 Dilworth Drive (industrial), Powerhouse (commercial building along Clement Ave), The Lodges (residential rental buildings at Clement and Richter Street). All three of those developments were completed around 2020.
Rental Development Information
1605 Gordon Drive (as proposed) will be a U-shaped building with the building facing Gordon and Lawrence Ave. It will be a combination of apartment units and multi-level townhouses. The back section of the development will be an open green space for the residents and the daycare to use (facing the Accent Inn) which will be raised up above the parkade. The renderings show a dog park, playground for the complex, separate area for the daycare, and other green space for residents to enjoy.

The 201 residential units will be a big boost to the rental pool for downtown Kelowna, which will be much needed in the coming years as the UBCO campus is built downtown, the office buildings, and the new hotel. Maintaining the childcare centre is a great addition, as well, which will make the building more appealing to young families.
